Use a custom alias for your link

By default Urlicer picks a short, random code for each link (for example x7Gk2). You can set your own instead, a custom alias like spring-sale, in the Custom alias (optional) field when you create a link.

An alias can use letters, digits, dashes (-) and underscores (_), up to 40 characters. It has to be unique on its domain: the same alias can exist once on our shared domain and once on each of your own domains.

On our shared domain, how short an alias can be depends on your plan: the alias field tells you the minimum. On your own custom domain any length works. Aliases you already have keep working if you change plans.

Changing an alias

Open the link and click the pencil next to its address. Saving moves the link to the new address straight away. The old address stops working and anyone can take it, so printed QR codes and shared copies of it will break.

Plans

Custom aliases are included in the Pro plan and above. On the free plan links get their short random code, which works exactly the same way.

• If the alias you want is taken, try another.
• Leave the field blank and Urlicer generates a code for you.
• Links made on the homepage without an account always get a generated code.
