Short links that don't track the people who click them

You still see how many clicks a link got, from which countries, sites and devices. The click record holds no cookie ID and no IP address, so there is nothing in it that follows a person from one day to the next.

  • No analytics cookie on a click
  • Straight to the destination, with no ad page in between
  • Stored in the Netherlands
Click analytics for a short link: top countries with flags, top referrers, devices, browsers and operating systems

No cookie, no stored IP

Unique visitors are counted from a hash of the IP address and a salt that changes every day. The address itself is not kept, and yesterday's hash can't be matched to today's.

Nothing between click and page

A link redirects. There is no ad, no preview page and no list of advertising partners to accept first, on the free plan as well as the paid ones.

Hosted in the EU

Links and click data are stored on a server in Amsterdam. Email is sent from a server in Helsinki. The companies we rely on are listed in the privacy policy.

What one click leaves behind

What a free Bitly link does now

A link made on a new free Bitly account doesn't go to its destination. It opens a consent dialog that names 719 advertising partners, then a page with an ad and a 7-second wait. We checked this inside Bitly on 23 September 2026. Links from older accounts still redirect directly.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a cookie banner to use these links?
Our click analytics set no cookie and store no visitor ID, which is what a banner usually exists to ask about. Whether your own site needs one depends on what else runs on it, so that part is yours to check.
Does any link set a cookie?
Two features do, and neither is used for tracking. A password-protected link remembers that the visitor unlocked it, and an A/B test remembers which version a visitor was sent to so they get the same one next time. A plain link sets nothing.
Can I still add an ad pixel to my links?
Yes, if you choose to. Retargeting pixels are off unless you add one, and they only run on your own custom domain. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked first and can continue without ad cookies. How pixels work.
If no IP is stored, how are unique visitors counted?
Each click is given a hash made from the IP address and a salt that is replaced every day. Two clicks with the same hash on the same day count as one visitor. The next day the same person gets a different hash.
Is Urlicer GDPR compliant?
We'd rather tell you what we do than hand you a label. This page and the privacy policy say what is collected, where it is stored and who else handles it, so you or your data protection officer can judge it against your own requirements.
Does your own website track me?
It counts page views with Pirsch, an analytics service from Germany that uses no cookies. There is no advertising script on urlicer.com, which is why you didn't see a cookie banner when you arrived.
