QR code for a business card
Put a code on your card that opens your website, portfolio or profile. Paste the link, style the code, download a PNG for the printer. Free, no signup.
What the code should open
A business card is small and lasts for years, so point the code at one page you control and that will still be right in two years: your site, a page about you, or a profile. The code opens a web page. It does not save a contact card (vCard) to the phone.
When your details change
A code made here encodes the address directly, so it opens that address for as long as the cards exist. Change jobs, move the page or rename your site, and every card you handed out points at the old place.
A dynamic code points at a short link instead. You change where the short link goes, and the cards in people's pockets follow. It also counts how many people scanned it, which tells you whether the code is worth the space on the next print run.
Printing it on a card
- Size. A card is read from about 20 to 30 cm, so print the code at least 2 to 3 cm wide. A short link keeps the code simple enough for that size.
- Leave the quiet zone, the empty margin around the code. Cropping it tight is the most common reason a printed code does not scan.
- Dark on light. Keep strong contrast; avoid placing it over a photo or a pattern.
- Say what it does next to it, like "Portfolio" or "Book a call", so people know why to scan.
- Test a printed proof with two or three phones before ordering the run.
