QR code for a website
Make a code that opens your website, or one page on it: a menu, a booking page, a product. Paste the address, style the code, download it. Free, no signup.
Link the page, not the home page
Someone scanning a code on a table or a box wants the thing next to it: the menu, the booking form, the product's manual. Send them straight there. Copy the address from your browser's address bar while you are on that page.
See the scans in your own analytics
Add tracking tags to the address before you make the code, so your web analytics shows the
visits as coming from the code: for example
?utm_source=qr&utm_medium=print&utm_campaign=menu. The
UTM builder puts them together for you. Tags make the
address longer, and a longer address makes a denser code, which is one more reason to put a
short link in the code instead.
When the page moves
A code made here opens the exact address you typed, for as long as it is printed. Redesign the site or rename the page, and the code leads to an error page. A dynamic code points at a short link you can re-point to the new address, and it counts the scans even without tags.
